Are my cabinets able to support the weight of new countertops & do they have to be level?
The majority of cabinets can easily handle the weight of new counters. Cabinets must be within an 1/8" level before we can install your countertops. Even if your current countertops are level there is a possibilty that the cabinets underneath are not. We will not be able to asses the shape of existing cabinets until a tear out is performed. If it is deemed that the cabinets are not able to support the additional weight or are not level it is the customers responsibility to have that corrected.
Will my countertops match my sample?
Samples are used as a tool to help you get an idea of what the material looks like. However, we can not guarantee that the sample will match the actual material used. When viewed online, the color tones may not be absolutely correct due to variations in computer systems, monitors and compression algorithms. If this is a major concern please work with your site to view material before fabrication.
How quickly can I have my tops installed?
Installation times can vary depending on material availability and production times. Please contact the facility closest to you to find out our current lead times.
Do I have to buy the whole sheet/slab?
We do not charge you the price of full slabs. You pay for the square footage that is required to fabricate your tops. However, there is a required minimum on some materials.
Do I need to be home during template or install?
Yes. We require you to be present at the time of template to ensure that we are building the countertop as you desire. We also require you to be home at the installation to sign off that the job is completed to your satisfaction.
Do I have to have all my appliances on site at template?
We require all sinks to be on site at template and all model numbers to be provided for all other appliances. We will also need to know how many faucet holes you would like to have drilled at that time. All appliances need to be on site the day of installation.
Can I cut on my stone countertops?
Only if you want to ruin your good knives. Most stone, like granite, is harder than your knife blades and will dull them very quickly. We recommend that you always cut and chop on a wooden or plastic cutting board.
Is it normal for seams in stone not to be perfectly smooth?
Yes, this is called lippage. This may be unavoidable due to various thicknesses in stones. There should be no detectible lippage in the front or rear of the countertop. The maximum lippage for the center of a top is 1/32" or .8mm.
How many seams will I have?
This will depend on the material being used and the directionality of that material. It is up to the fabricator to decide the number and location of all seams.
